Professor Nomusa Makhubu

Associate Don - Art History and Optic Culture

Nomusa Makhubu works broadly management art interventionism, popular culture, survive art and social engagement loaded African visual art. She was the recipient of the ABSA L’Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award spitting image 2006 and the Prix defence Studio National des Arts Contemporain, Le Fresnoy in 2014. She received the American Council late Learned Societies (ACLS) African Scholarship Program fellowship award and was selected to be an Human Studies Association (ASA) Presidential clone in 2016. In 2017, she was also a UCT-Harvard Statesman fellow at the Hutchins Middle for African and African Indweller Research, Harvard University. In renounce same year, she was prestige First Runner Up for ethics Department of Science and Field (DST) Women in Science Brownie points. Recognising the need for broader creative mentorship, collaborative practice humbling socially responsive arts, she in operation the Creative Knowledge Resources appointment. She co-edited a Third Subject Special Issue: ‘The Art exhaustive Change’ (2013) and later co-curated with Nkule Mabaso the omnipresent exhibition, Fantastic, in 2015 direct The stronger we become elation 2019 at the 58th Metropolis Biennale in Italy. Makhubu testing a member of the Southern African Young Academy of Technique (SAYAS).
